My particular iteration of the VTL Ultimate preamp has one 12AT7 and one 12AU7 in each channel's line stage. The phono stage has two 12AX7s per channel.

Just gonna say? I've always been pretty darn happy with my preamp, and it sure doesn't gobble up tubes.
