RE: 6P14P as an EL84 replacement






Yes, the -EV and -ER types are the best sounding.

And they last longer, too.

You can see the difference from the plain types, in that the pins in the -EV and -ER are plated.
And, the blue glow from the anode coating.

I have used 8 -ER and 8 -EV in my HiFi modified Peavey 50/50 monoblocks for some years now.

No failures, just excellent sound quality, and a lot of power from 8 x 8 tubes!
