I never had much luck finding good globe 45s though I did run one pair for quite a long time while another pair died badly and took out one of the amps with it. Other than looking cool, I can't say that I noticed much if any difference between the globes and various STs, but that could be my Wavelength amps.
It's been 8 or more years since I bought a ton of 45s on ePay and even then, the cost difference of globes often wasn't worth the risk. I did have great luck with STs, RCA and Sylvanias and others. Often, I'd pick up one offs at cheap prices and then match them up with others that I had over time. Most tested pretty strong and I never noticed any noisy ones, but then the supply of decent tubes is likely dwindling due to hoarders like me.
