Hi all. I notice quite a few of my long plate tubes, especially my early vintage Ken Rad, have this upper mid range glare that can be uncomfortable.

On a hunch I put on some tube dampers, and this glare mostly if not completely disappears. So would I be correct in diagnosing the glare as microphonics?

Just how common then, is microphonics among long plate tubes?
