For a complete system approach I would look at Audio Note - speakers/Integrated amp or possibly preamp power amp.
My advice is to listen to stuff way way out of your budget to find what can be achieved - hold that in your mind and try to find gear that approximates that level as much as possible.
With $6-$8k for example you could buy junior models of the gear that is presented in this show demo - and it would be a place to start. (music starts at 4min)
I have the speakers here and I want the power amps on the outside (one day). The speakers are happy with 7 watts and will hit bass as low or lower than the B&W N802.
