picked up a Scott 299B which specifies 7189, looking at the schematic those plate and screen, hell, all the voltages are significantly higher than for 6BQ5s. So, can I use the JJ EL84s? Thought I heard they were good for that application, but perhaps they are not. Suggestions among modern production as finding vintage 7189 is pretty expensive, got a bunch of NOS 6BQ5s though... thanks!
