Today was an exceptional day, haven't had goose bumps in a long time whilst listening to music. Make a couple of changes room and speaker placement wise which clearly paid off.
I have a bootleg 2cd set of Diana Krall's Live in Paris that was directly from the soundboard and no mastering, just as it was the 1st night. The Amperex 6922's really shined in the lower regions, John Clayton's bass was full and commanding, but seemingly faster and clearer. Diana's vocals on this recording are not panned to the center which works as you can feel the depth as her voice fills the concert hall.
Anthony Wilson's guitar sounds right, back then he played an early 1960's Gibson Byrdland.
The biggest improvement (due to more toe-in and a larger picture in the front wall) was the soundstage, which now is wall free and very 3 dimensional.
I like these tubes, not sure if there better than the E288CC's, just a little different sonically.
Can't understand why anyone would want SS when you can get the incredible life like soundstage that only tubes can provide, unless you throw a ton on money out there.
