Unfortunately, I've never experienced true Telefunkens, at least in the 6922 family. I would love to get some CCa's though! I find the Amperex to be more neutral and that was the case just now. I auditioned them first with Kenny Burrell, Live at the Vanguard. The cymbal work really was sweet. Kenny's Gibson L5 sounded as it should.
Next up was a compilation CD of Stephane Grappelli and Jean-Luc Ponty. It too was very pleasant sounding with the Amperex'. There's just a hint of grain, expected from NOS tubes that hopefully will go away after fully burned in and formed.
I still like the Siemens (E288CC's) only for their mids and soundstsge. That said, I will ride with the Amperex' for the next few months.
