This topic brought to light a lot of good information for me. I use tubes but am not well educated in them at all. I had no idea that tube manufacturers themselves will slap on labels which are not necessarily an honest representation of the tubes. Also that some people sell items without full disclosure, such as describing an item as fact, when it is only their best guess.
Since I have no interest in becoming a tube expert but need to purchase them on occasion, this topic has confirmed for me to stick with well known, trusted dealers only (such as Brent Jesse, Jim McShane, etc.), even if that means I have to pay a higher price. I do not wish to be tricked into purchasing a falsley described item.
