I have a tube pre-amp and a tube phono pre-amp. from this ebay seller.

The tube pre-amp has a whine noise that you hear when its not playing music

or silent passages. the gain switch on the back can be adjusted to minimize

the sound but not get rid of it, Is this common with tube gear?.
