For the longest time Merlin showed with Joule OTL amplifiers with good results. Atmasphere OTLs also sound great on Merlins with a bit less warmth which I prefer. Being easy to drive any tube amp should work well. I always found the Merlins a bit tizzy sounding with solid state.
