The Bob Latino amplifiers are an example of new gear. The amplifiers use quality parts, a PCB board and performs well. The preamp board uses different tubes vs the Dynaco vintage design and adds a CCS in the phase inverter cathode circuit.
As for those old 'it sucks' theories, an amplifier does not require a tube rectifier to sound good too. The new SS rectifiers are electronically quiet and provide better voltage regulation.
I prefer hard wired, however using a PCB does not always ensure an amplifier sucks too. Example- Blueberry preamp. The Blueberry does not suck in the least!
