This is far too general - as said below the good modern designs will use solid state parts where they improve the circuit - active loads, constant current sinks, filament circuits and so on. This is generally considered to be a good thing and is used in a lot of the best gear.
As said, new gear will have the parts like resistors and capacitors in much better condition. I don't see any downsides.
