This is about my Cary SLI-80 Signature, which was too bright with EH KT88s. I switched to a set of New Sensor's Svetlana 6550 that fixed the excessive brightness and sound real good, besides. But, I'd like another set of power tubes to roll, especially since I was not too happy with the results of rolling the four smaller tubes.
I've also just acquired a mint pair of Dahlquist DQ-20s that need a warm-sounding amp.
As Audioquest4life mentioned, synergy affects the outcome. Speaking of 6550s, at one time I briefly tried a Jolida integrated amp that came with the Tung Sol 6550, but the NS Svetlana 6550 sounded considerably richer in the Jolida, which kind of surprised me. Wonder if the same would be true in my SLI-80?
Thoughts?
