hi there,
i've made a very detailed, long comparison of these tubes:

General Electric, 3 micas, black plates, “silver clips”, square getter, 1952-53.
Sylvania, 3 micas, black plates, square getter, 1950's.
General Electric, 3 micas, black plates, square getter, 1950's.
Sylvania, 3 micas, gray plates, halo getter, 1950's.

but, instead of just expressing my results by writing a few informal remarks about each tube, i used up to TEN different sonic parameters to compare the tubes to each other, in a way that i was able to asign a number to each parameter (from 1 to 6 points); the CLEAR winner was the GE "silver clips", with 58 points, followed by the SYL 3M BP with 53, then the GE 3M BP with 49, and finally the SYL 3M GP with 47; these results are clearly seen in the table above
you can see full details about my system, the music i used, and the methodology i applied to the comparison by opening the link below; YET it is written in Spanish, since it was published in the best audio forum in my country (Audioplanet), BUT since the audio terminology is not that different in both languages, you will be able at the very least to catch the gist of my comments!... :)
finally, at the end of the full comparison, you'll find 2 pics for each tube, where you will clearly see the internal details, where the attention is focused on the different ways the plates are holded by the micas; my theory is that these differences are in some important degree responsible for the sonic differences
