RE: Stupid question about rectifier tubes. 6X4/EZ90 types.

AFAIK, 6X4s are a NOS only proposition. As for the 6V6, a current production EH should be more than adequate, in regulator service. Poindexter of Musical Machine fame likes the EH 6V6 and actually prefers the "reissue" TungSol 6V6 to NOS, in his amps. As this is regulator duty, the lower priced tube seems appropriate.

BTW, if the unit you are about to receive is wired P2P, "surgery" to replace the 7 pin mini socket with a Loctal socket and installing a LOW cost 7Y4, as the rectifier, is something to consider. If you get a chance, compare the data sheets for the 6X4, 7Y4, and 6X5GT. They are (IMO) very similar.
