That's an interesting point. Do you suppose you might have liked the Mark IV better because of the difference sonics of the power tubes, that is, EL34 vs. 6550/KT88? I have considered that a lot of times when someone says they don't like the sound of the Stereo 70, or Mark III or whatever, it is really the difference in the sonic characteristics of the different tube types (among other possible factors, of course).
