Get some teflon tape (plumber's tape), fold over a small piece and slide it between the tubes.
It's cheap and easy to acquire, you can control the thickness by how much you fold it, it's essentially
impervious to heat and should look better than a piece of cork.
It will provide enough "cushion" to stop any ringing between the tubes.
