RE: Triode VS Ultralinear with EL34 vs 6CA7

This can be fairly dependent on the amplifier in question. Most Ultralinear amps have extra gain and a fair amount of global feedback. When you switch to triode mode, the need for that feedback is mitigated, but removing it lets the gain get out of control.

The best idea would be to ask the manufacturer, though if the amp is specified to use EL-34's as triodes, KT-77's should work just fine.
