RE: Why does Genelex make a Chinese 12AX7?

I can't vouch for the NS's Genalex B759, I never had the chance to compare, and I don't have any hifi equipment to really merit the expense. However, I have played with the Chinese variant.

This tube is actually Shuguang's new(ish) 7025. It's a new design from the ground up. It's a different glass by feel and shape than the standard Shuguangs we're used to. The plate structure and mica remind you of old stock makes. And with no AC hum I trust it's a spiral filament. And overall, it's pretty quiet actually. I can't say it's my favourite (we could sit here for a while sniffing corks), but once it wears in a little and loosens up it's a great tube. I'd trust it to outlive and outperform most others in its price range.

At this point, I'd like to think the Genalex brand implies consistency in tube test values and real life performance.

May your tubes be lively, warm, and long-lasting. Holy be thy heater.
