At one time that was true but it's longer the case with most output tubes...I have many Genelex and GEC tubes in NOS and near NOS and here is a set of five that are matched in the 95% range and the ones below are my original quad of KT88 reissues from 2007.Since we are talking about GEC KT88s,this is why I posted these but when people ask me the difference I would say the tubes are on par with each other sonically but the reissues have a more alive sound.I get the impression that GEC was going for the industrial market more than the audio market because I ended getting 14 new sealed in the package KT88 Genelex out of a lab at Ford Motor company in 1988.I got them for free but I have also seen these tubes used in Plasma cutters and other medical devices.
