The KT-120 is most likely not going to work in the REF600. The heaters will draw another 6.4 amps of current versus the stock 6550. I don't think the house keeping transformer is going to take this additional current draw. I own REF300 and while the additional heater current draw would only be half of the REF600 I am not willing to give it try.
I own the REF75 which does use the KT-120. Not so sure I care for the KT-120. A great sounding amp with the stock KT-120 but I actually like the amp better with the Sovtek 6550WE.
My REF300 have been quite reliable except for an occasional output tube failure. With 12 output tubes per channel (20 for the 600) there is a lot of exposure. The reliability can be greatly increased and output tube failure causing damage can be eliminated by installing fuses for each output tube. I have done this with my REF300 and have had five output tubes fail since installing the fuses. No big deal. Replace the offending tube, replace the failed fuse associated with that tube, rebias the amp and you are ready to go.
