I'm going to second the recommendation for a Latino ST-70 plus a VTA preamp. I've had the VTA ST-70 and a VTA SP-10 preamp for about a year, and I haven't thought of upgrading once in that time. I compare this to every other system I've ever had where I got tired of it four months after buying it.

Of course, if you can get an old Marantz...yeah, that might be a good thing too. :)
