I would say "all of the above"...

But I would also, as suggested, only set the tube up to 60/75% of the bias you are looking for, give it a week (in my case 10-20 hours), then readjust. Should be fine after that, USUALLY. I've had my times where the amp just doesn't want to play nice upwards of a few weeks to a month. I would start thinking it was the tube (which it still very well could be), was ready to pull them and try another set, and then suddenly things settled down.

While I am not in any way, shape or form knocking tube amps, this is one of the many reasons why my next one will be solid state, regardless of the trade offs...
