No reason to be concerned, unless you put them in incorrectly. Then you can blow grid resistors, etc.
BUT - you have to be really careful not to damage the stem where the glass envelope is sealed. Crack that, and it's toast.
Aside from putting replacement keys on the tube, you can also plug the hole on pin 6 of the socket with a piece of stiff wire insulation. That will serve the purpose of preventing incorrect insertion.
