Tubes Asylum Questions about tubes and gear that glows. FAQ |

I picked up a vintage Fisher 500 mono receiver the other day and have decided to rebuild and keep it.
The output tube sockets have EL37 printed beside them so I am assuming they are what the was originally equipped with, however, it currently has a pair of Sylvania 6L6's. Sooner or later it will require new output tube so; Should I try to get a pair of matched EL37's, 6L6's, or 5881's? What are the general sonic qualities of each?
Thanks.......
