From what I remember about the curves, none of the triodes in those dual tubes are particularly linear. Of course, that means substitutions aren't overly critical, as the amplifiers have been "linearized" with a heavy dose of NFB. Hard to believe one tube would sound better than another under those conditions. Do you have curves for the 6BL8?
