Returning Used Parts

Many states have laws that govern this. I once sent a Nikon SLR to the California center for repair. One of the parts they replaced had the serial number on it. The part they installed was used, and it had a much older serial number. In my case, that made the camera worth less. When I called to complain, they said the old parts had been tossed out because I didn't specifically request their return in advance. Apparently, that's the law in CA.
