I am not familiar with that company's products, but a fancy name is not a guarantee of quality. Neither does gold plating - it actually does more bad than good.
I see they have some which I would never put into my product - bad design. For the octals I would only use the ones with fork terminals - those never fail, and we use thousands. Perhaps you could show which ones you bought.
So yes, the sockets can give you all sorts of problems, but there could be other causes, to be sure.
