It's interesting... Some time ago I purchased a quad of NOS JAN GE 6550 tubes, used them for a short time and recently noticed that one of them is dead (after being unused for a year)...

I also have one dead Genalex KT88 tube (purchased as NOS) and one RCA/Siemens 7308 tube..

I suspect that reproducing these tubes (at least GE6550 and RCA/Siemens 7308 would be more expensive than buying new (NOS) ones...
