Tubes Asylum Questions about tubes and gear that glows. FAQ |
|
while this question has been asked before, I am still a little foggy on it. My understanding is the 6BG6G can be used to replace the 6L6, 6L6G, 6L6GA, 6L6GB, and the 5881, as the 6GB6G can dissipate 19 watts. That leaves out the 6L6GC, 7027, and the 7581(?) which would need a larger plate structure and thus a 6GB6GA for 35 watt plate dissipation. So if my amp has 38 watt output for PP and uses 5881 tubes, I can use the 6GB6G, if my amp uses 7581 (citation V), I need the 6GB6GA tubes. Just one more thing, are there any particular recommendations for manufacturer type, ie., GE, SYL, RCA, Mullard, etc? thanks!
