Did you test those Telefunken ECC83's? Seems that many being sold on the market, today, are near 50% or less emissions. And sound lifeless and dull.

Square or D-getter US made 12AX7 are pretty good tubes. Whether made by Sylvania, Raytheon, Tungsol, GE, RCA... whomever. May have been a lot of cross-labeling between the manufacturers, in those days. Black plates, even better tubes. Hard to find good testing, quiet one of any of these manufacturers.
