Well, there are a couple of different versions of both tubes. The early Tung Sol 12ax7 with the "bent" square getter is a great tube, very clean and extended with great air. The Telefunken ribbed plate has a darker sound to it with a thinner sounding midbass and less treble extention.
I prefer the Tung Sol, many love the Tele.
