Now that is consistent with my findings. I own a quad and tried them in my amps twice, but end up pulling them out pretty quickly. But I will try again with them. I did really like some Mullard CV4004s in the Aesthetix Calypso I once owned, so the Mullard suggestion is attractive to me. In fact those Mullards were the resident tubes for that position in the pre, and I tried a lot of tubes. So 4003s...
