Mine have never really liked the T-S round plate as much as the Sylvania "bad boy" run, Sylvania 6SN7W and the Raytheon 6SN7GT T plates.
The 6SN7GT comes in so many "tonal" varieties. The differences are often so great (as between an RCA 6SN7GT grey plate and Sylvania 6SN7W), in some typologies and positions that people's favorites vary a lot that, even for people who have been exposed to the many different versions, favorites vary widely.
But the T-S round plate is generally near or at the top.
I had an OTL headphone that could use all the 6SN7 tubes as outputs, and it really sang in many tones as I rolled tubes.
Have you ever measured how these differences effect frequency response and distortion of OTLs when they are used as output tubes?
I mainly use them as drivers and phase inverters in PP power amps and as drivers in pre-amps, all in "traditional" (vintage?) circuits.
