In the ST20 that series resistor in the power supply either burns out or desolders itself and falls out , looks like it was designed with safety in mind . Have seen two ST20 so far with burnt out transformers due to people repairing these by fitting a higher wattage type
Definitely not a 'anything you can throw it it' part . Transformers in Leaks were marginal at best...
