The amp in question was a version of the Randal Museum PP KT-88/6550 project; an amp that is build by students as part of an amp building class at the Randal Museum here in San Francisco.
Speakers were re-build Quad 57's, but as it was part of the class the shoot-out was inside the instructors garage!
Still, very nice set up using vinyl not CD's as source material and about as good a sound as one is likely to hear in a garage!
They did rotate some cheaper Chinese KT-88 (gold lion clones?) through the amp but they were not up to either the TS or PSVANE standard.
That said, neither of my NOS quads of TS 6550's were up there with the latest version of the PSVANE and that was quite a surprise to me.
First they came for the dumb-asses
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a dumb-ass
