All joking aside tho,you did no damage whatsoever because of the fact that the metering circuit where you check the bias is basically taking a voltage reading across a cathode resistor in parallel..The switch just turns the metering circuit on so you can take a reading.It should have no effect at all on loading the tube.
The Harman Kardon Citation 2 has a meter built in to check tube bias and even set AC balance..The problem is,many people would forget to turn the switch back off and over the course of many years it would beat those meters up pretty bad from the amplifier playing and pegging the needle because it wasn't shut-off..It didn't hurt the amp but it did the meter.
Do you bias with a DVM or built-in meter? Either way,you will be fine.
