Tubes Asylum Questions about tubes and gear that glows. FAQ |
|
There has been a lot of talk thru the years about fake tubes and copies, but you have to wonder how much of this market was put forth by the tube manufacturers such as Telefunken,Mullard,Sylvania, and RCA at their conclusion of manufacturing tubes. We know in the final years that Mullard had Matsushita building their EL34s and yet they say made in Great Britain right on the tube.We RCA had 12AX7s made in Hungary and Sylvania which was bought by Phillips, was having 6550s made in China by Shuggie.
I'm not knocking any of the aforementioned tubes, because most of know they all sound pretty dang good regardless of where they were made..This really wasn't a problem because people were glad to get replacement tubes once production ceased by the major manufacturers..
Now we are seeing fakes surfaces but getting premium prices in some cases.
