Add on the fact that chokes are usually used for added smoothing in tube amps - or should be!
You can use chokes in SS amps and they are remarkably effective - it's kind of lazy just to use monster caps.
And in any case, polypropylene caps in tube power supplies sound so much better - I'd take 100uF polyprop over 1,000uF electrolytic any day. But I also use DN2540 and glow tubes for the input stages to get better smoothing anyway.
