The old (49-50) Dodge and Plymouth car radios used a 6AQ5 PP output using a 6AV6 as a phase inverter. The amp and power supply were on a separate power supply from the radio. They sounded very good! Perhaps you can find a schematic and go from there! I used to go to the junkyard, buy the entire radio, and change the power supply to an AC transformer put them in a wood cabinet with an antenna and speaker and sell them. They had a great AM tuner and sounded great!
