Tubes Asylum Questions about tubes and gear that glows. FAQ |
|
I live a charmed life. On the same week that I buy a Sherwood S5000 locally (but paid a premium price since it was pristine and unmolested), I go to the local once-a-year audio and electronics show and find 4 new-in-box 7189A tubes for it (old Realistic labels). I got them for pocket change. Now I know that 7189A and 7189 are different but 7189A's can vary. These new (possibly E German) tubes have no connections on pins 1, 6, or 8, and the Sherwood S-5000 has no connections on those pins either. Studying the internal wiring, they should plug n play with no problem.
There is that chance they are just EL84s, with 7189A printing, but they have different pin connections than EL84s I have inspected. May be 6P14P EV.
