need help on Counterpoint SA7.1

Got an SA 7.1 but B+ is drawing too much current and smoking the in line resistor.Changed all caps: rectifier and zeners test all good but the transistor regulator seems kaput. I can read part of the type , 2N34, but the last part is rubbed off and I can find no listing for a TO-39 type for a 2N34. Alta Vista website ( Old Mike Elliot of Counterpoint design) seems down and they do not in any case list the transistor.

Can any one help?Thanks

Stu
