These are what I have liked best over newer 40 years.
Siemens-Halske Cca
Amperex Heerlen, Holland E188CC "D" Shape Top Getters and RTC
Amperex Heerlen, Holland E188CC White PQ/ Philips SQ
Telefunken Cca
Amperex USA PQ White/ Jan/ USN-CEP (7308), Large Halo
Mullard E188CC and RTC
Mazda RTC, Dario or R/T label, halo getters
Amperex USA Orange Globe Labels, halo getters
Siemens-Halske E188CC White Label, halo getters
Mullard E88CC
Siemens-Halske SQ E88CC
Philips E88CC SQ
This is somewhat the order, as I like them, however, there are many I heard about but have not owned
Also, I use, primarily, Mullard E188CC Amperex Heerlen, Holland E188CC White PQ/ Philips SQ, Mullard E188CC RTC, and Siemens-Halske E188CC.
These are tubes I have used much in yesrs, not they I dislike The Siemens CCa, or Amprex USA tubes. These all have best aspects; I would say the Siemens CCA is most three dimensional, Mullad and RTC, which are often Mullard tubes are most warm, while Philips/ Aamerex are most dynamic. It sometimes best to mix these.
I think with the ARC preamplifiers, which use them, the Siemens are best in forward stages, while Mullard, or Philips/ Amperex are better output drivers.
Telefunken with the older Amperex is also a good choice.
I happen to like my ARC preamplifiers far more the my old Sonic Frontiers, where Siemens seemed too neutral, while Mullard gave it some life, and the more Dynamic Phillips gave it more presence and sound stage.
The older ARC tubes were made in Germany; these I cannot remember who made them, but they had a good sound Then, ARC started using these cheap Russian tubes and it seems that is when I began tube rolling.
I still like the older ARC tubes and use them with RTC, made by Mullard.
