Okay, I had a Raytheon go out (snap, etc). So, I bought another. While waiting for it, I put I put a couple of Phillips JAN (although one had a hum) back in. The sound went from pleasant to kind of flat. The new/used Ratheon arrived and sounded like I remember. THEN, a pair of, both, Sylvania and RCA Black Plates arrived. Now, I can't get the Sylvania out of the amp. I want to listen to the RCAs but am so happy with the Sylvanias, I hesitate over any change. BTW, there are a pair of Mazda tubes on the way from France. The Sylvania initially had a depth but limited width. After two weeks, they have widened out. The sound of difficult instruments like piano sound great as does the sax. It may be a year before my tube rolling is completed. I guess it's a good situation.
