I had a 52' Tung-Sol 5U4G bottom getter in the WA6 and really liked the balance overall. Now using a 55' Mullard GZ32 which adds a warmer mid-range and has punchier bass, although rolled bit on the deep end. Also have a 55' Brimar 5V4G and a 45' Ken-Rad branded RCA 5R4GY I swap out for different sonics. The WA6 definitely responds to the different type of rectifiers in the circuit design! Swapping them is almost as dramatic as swapping the driver tubes.
I think you will be impressed with the Ken-Rads bass and mids. And the soundstage is wide and somewhat deep in the KR's also. I listen to a wide range of music, from classical ( large orchestra mainly ), 50-60's jazz, and vintage rock. I like the RCA VT-231's for their smooth and warm presentation on harsh recordings and the KR's for bringing out the bass and enriching the mids on thin sounding material.
Hoping the 52' Sylvania's will add the dynamics, punch, and clarity for the rock and jazz.
