Got lucky and snatched a true NOS pair of 1952 Sylvania JAN CHS 6SN7GT "Bad Boys", the real deal with the 3 hole plates and military boxes, green print and 231 date code for $59 shipped!.I already have some Ken-Rad clear glass 1944 VT231's and love the bass. mids, and soundstage, but the highs are a bit edgy and a tad rolled off. Also have a pair of RCA Smoke glass 1944 VT231's and like them for their tube warmth and rich overall presentation for edgy LP's and CD's.
How happy are those with the real 3 hole Bad Boys with the top end? I know the bass is considered good, and a slight warm mid range. but do the highs extend with a nice shimmer and no glare?
