When you say spread the pins bit,do you mean on the 12AX7 itself or do you mean on the tube socket pins? I assume you meant you bent the pins a bit so they would fit more tightly in the socket.
What you need to do is get yourself a tiny jeweler flat blade screwdriver and go in on the outer part of the 12AX7 tube socket and bend in those pins a tiny bit in each side..It is easy to do and it will solve your problem I would guess.
