RE: From my experience, I've had rubber melt, you need the high temp Silicone O-rings,

I don't understand the use of o rings in winemaking or are they used when the bottles are full and then heated like pastuerization. Or is it to nold corks in place during the malolactic fermentation.

All that is moot.
I was able to buy some of the larger diameter brass ring cooler\dampers a few years ago. They are now out of production. I don't have a laser thermometer to I can't report on their effectiveness in term of cooling . Brent Jesse makes a current similar product and claims excellent cooling. Mine will fit a 6SN7 and the Bente Jesse I think are for noval. The damping capacity is obvious, the large ring are fairly heavy and just through mass interfaced with some rubber they knock out microphonics superbly. I wish I could buy more so called dampers, but alas alack...
