All the old knob and tube wiring is gone. It's unfortunate they didn't have the modern dieletric material we have now. The knob and tube is always laid out very neatly. When I built the addition the local code required the house to be completely rewired. Also the ground cannot be established through the switch screws. You have to use switches with ground screws, and since I used metal boxes, you have to screw a ground wire to the box as well. Commercial requires an independent ground wire, and has for a long time. At one time you could use the EMT as your ground. Maybe I need to isolate the switch from the metal box, but that would require nylon screws, and washers, and I have never heard of any one needing to go to that extreme. Thanks for the suggestions!
